Nice found mate! Wasn't aware that ERF build dumpers as well, only ones I know about are the ones Foden produced...

Cheers, Patrick

the top Picture looks like the Titan and thats Dales trailer and dolly behind known a ""Big George" and was the biggest low loader in NZ when built

A few photos down you can see Big George again with a drag line on the back that was working in the coal mines in the north island

A couple of Federals there looks like one has got anew cab along the way

The big Scamell in the last photo is Dales as well

Thanks for sharing the pictures Patrick

Paul

Cheers for the info Paul! I must admit that I've never would have thought that there was so much interesting stuff out there in NZ...and to be honest, I've got quite a limited knowledge about NZ...making up for it now though ;)

ERF dumtrucks:

From a book by Nick Baldwin comes this info -

First ERF dumptruck was model 54G in 1958 (the first production truck with disc front brakes, which soon gave way to drums).
5LW powered, half cab, 7 cu yd body. Also offered with 6LW (model 64G).
Developed through 60s and 70s - last model was TJC180, 18 tons gvw with Cummins 240hp and full width cab (possibly those two pictured earlier?).

Tony

edit: MEDCON is a construction company operating from 1952 in Cyprus - who knows, maybe those old ERFs are still there!

There has been some discussion on another forum about these big Kenworth trucks over a number of years
Even though I am not really a KW bloke these sought of grab my eye and fired up some brain cells

These first few photos are taken at Loy Yang A power station when it was been built in the 80's
I spent a few years working there before I went farming
Must be two separate loads as ones coming in from the east and the other from the west
Loy Yang is in the Latrobe Valley in Victoria and is I believe on the largest brown coal reserve in the world the boilers in Loy Yang are the tallest boilers in the southern hemisphere yet the turbines and generators arent that big at only 500MW each as brown coal doesnt burn as good as black
All the coal is dug with bucket wheel dredges that dig at the rate of 2500 tins per hour
Anyway sorry to bore you all with some uesless facts but in todays super green world full of tree huggers no one speaks about any of this stuff any more
The truth is these power stations are super clean and the emissions are world standard and were way above world standard when they were built

These Kenworth trucks had V 12 Detroit with Allision auto's and thumping big Clark hub reduction, they reportedly had a top speed of 27 km/h
495 HP might not be a lot by todays standard but still pretty impressive I reckon

This is one of the Kenworths helping out to shift a digger on a self propelled Goldhofer trailer dunno how big or what model the digger is I'll let you blokes work that out, but just the thing for some landscaping around the house maybe

Image

This photo shows one of the Kenworths shifting the launching crane or gantry (dunno if thats the proper term or not) used when building the West Gate bridge in the 70's and 80's

Anyway thats about it from me
I reckon these are from pretty good times in Australia when we still could do things
