I think it ended up looking like that after it had a 14 litre Cummins retrofitted - Allelys Heavy Haulage had it next and put it back to a flat front.

Hi All,
I found a write up on this Scammel in "Classic Commercial Motor Vehicles"
It was a special in as much as it was converted by Dereck Parnaby using bonnet components from a Scammell S24.
The info there seems to state that the 14 litre Cummins was not a later addition. They were fitted in the standard S26 cab anyway and needed no extra space. The intention to fit a front winch is mentioned here too.

It also explained the surprisingly low STGO2 rating. She was fitted with Soma 12 tonne rated drive axles not the16 tonne rated axles required for the higher STGO3 rating.
It also confirms ,as Steve says, that she was sold to Alleys Heavy Haulage who restored the cab to the original S26 shape.

Was that really tacked on just to house a winch? I wonder what happened to it? It must have been quite a rare beast.

The only other logical explanations I can think of are whole raft of oil coolers, heat exchangers, and radiators, or an extra fuel tank.
Would a fold-out barbeque be out of the question?
If a LandRover doesn't leak oil, it's run out.

Thanks Fred  :claphands: so it was a special perhaps that explains why it looks one ugly truck; I have seen photos of it sometime in the distant past probably in a heavy haulage book.

Is the tank transporter what was called a Dragon Wagon?
