Yes Paul,Tim,Steve,so the cars go under it and not into it,gets rid of the blind spot for
the lorry driver as well, the chocking up is to stop the blade creeping down

Roly,My D8's worked well.I am glad as I'm not really fit to be arseing about with it if it breaks down!(still got this head virus thing).I can say its worked well now as it completed the job this weekend.(bloke even paid me!!!).I don't like commenting on the reliability of D8's when they are out working as they have a nasty habbit of breaking down just when you start praising them  .I have some work for it to go to in spring(if the economy doesn't shrink too much) but untill then It's homeless.
P.S your 68A looks in mint order

The last D8 to go out this morning, worked on it till late last night now
all the repairs are done, this is the machine i jumped off and broke my
arm :( glad to see it go out the yard :) i,m sending a spare scraper
front axel with it because with six scrapers running at Cannock if there,s
a front tyre burst or bearing failure its quicker to change the front axel,
get going again then get the fitters in for the mend

She's well shod  .What's the crack with the funny radiator grill?
Moved the D8 on Wednesday to a new job  .It went straight to work in some very dry peat.It was like lignite and dry as hell.Should be there a long time hopefully. They are currently on 56 hour shifts but this may get shortened to 40 unless work picks up.I don't mind as I'm only expecting 4 hour day with the D8.If work did pick up and they went back onto 80 hour shifts they will want the D8 working full time which isn't really good for me as those days are definatly over for me I hope!

Nicky, she done 250 hrs on new undercarriage then came in with final drive trouble,
the tractor is ex coalboard and they had fitted sound suppresed front grills and
engine enclosures,we have four of these coalboard tractors and its the only one
we hav,nt changed the front grill on but all the padding has been removed, these
tractors also have a tropical fan fitted which have more blade area than a standard
reverable, scooping much more needed air into a radiator core that has the front
padded up,these bigger fans rearly help to keep the temp down
