Great pictures, thanks for posting them.
A copmany I used to work for had a Dodge similar to the Hoveringham skip unit, it had a cummins V8 diesel which sounded very good !

These are brilliant Steve, especially the low loader.AE Genet of Chertsey always used Vapsco skip loaders on their Clydesdales and latterly Volvo F6's. Tim

Great photographs Steve. I did some work long ago on the Rootes/Commer TS-3 engine.....what a beast. Could not keep the oil leaks under control. I suppose it was a nightmare at the time, but wished those times could be re-lived. As for the Dodge K-Series, I did some work on them. Readymix Concrete had some here in the NE, powered by the Perkins V8-510, later to be joined by Ford 1000, same engine, but not as good. That Cripps photo of the Dodge Spaniard is great!!!

Great pic s ,like the picture of the Whitlock Crane on a Dodge, don't believe they made very many of these.
Wouldn't fancy hand balling the artic full of bagged cement not on pallets.
Anyone know what the machine is you can see the rear of in front of the Dodge Commando SNU604R.

Steve, may i say what great photos you have shown us, and the top photo shows a Bretts Commer, i remember seeing those a lot round here as they are based at Canterbury.. i have contacted Bretts and they will hopefully give us permission to show some of their old photos.. so fingers crossed

Thats how we used to do it years ago, hand ball everything off lorries, ..brick lorries were more fun though

Hi Steve

Some interesting photos you keep posting Steve Keep them coming please

Any details on the Whitlock crane steve (or anyone else) ?
Thats a new one on me. If I have a model no. can add it to the list http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Whitlock

Detail's of Commer and Dodge models and build dates, engines fitted etc are allways appreciated to expand the data base

Commer page http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Commer#Trucks Short of truck model info.

Dodge http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Dodge_Br ... ain%29_Ltd (this ones very sketchy) . I started it cause I had a photo from a show to use.

Cheers Dave

Info on Whitlock cranes I have is they built twenty between 1965 and 67 on the Dodge D309 (LAD cab) chassis. They were 7ton all hydraulic with a 24ft-78ft jib .1965 price £6,985. :ugeek:
However I've seen pictures of this crane (like the one in this thread) on the later Dodge 500 series chassis so did they build more ? When was the Dodge 500 introduced ?
