Came across this Foden 4410 today, not really a case of preserved but still working.

Yes Jack when ever there is a fairground in the area I try and get a few snaps of their wagons because they do run some old classics. I will post a few more when I get the chance.

Re: Preserved Oldies
Here's another two shots of fairground kit from today the first shows an old ERF that used to belong to County Cranes of Tipton who I think were machinery moving specialists.
The second shot shows the trailer that was coupled to the same wagon note the two broken wheel studs on the front axle, this was a common site on the Seddon Atkinson trucks that I used to work on and I have actually snapped five studs off all in a line whilst removing the O/S/R wheels from one of Fellows Transport 400 series trucks.

I read somewhere that a lot of the fairground people are going over to Volvo FH's as the ERF's and Foden's are getting harder to come by.

Sadly Steve that would not surprise me at all this particular fair consisted of Foden and ERF with the exception of a 7.5ton Ford Cargo and an articulated Leyland roadrunner caravan outfit.
Normally you find that showmen generally look after their wagons and take a bit of pride in them but looking at a few of the wagons on this fair I noticed a broken window in one of the Fodens, a large hole in a downpipe on a very tatty old ERF 8 legger and a few other bits 'n' pieces that the dept of transport could make an issue of.
I'll post a few more pics that I took when I've re-sized em.

Re: Preserved Oldies
Right then here are a few more pics of fairground wagons taken this last Saturday.
The first one an 1982/83 ERF 8 legger which looks the worse for wear and had the bottom of its exhaust downpipe blown completely out
Again a newer but just as work worn ERF 8 wheeler also still up and running.
The 1988/89 Foden 4300 in the third pic was rather "beat up" the N/S headlight is held in with cable ties the drivers door quarter light window is smashed and there are more than a few other defects on close inspection.
By comparison the 1979/80 ERF 'B' series in the fourth pic appears to be a little gem (not bad for 30 years old ) as does the 1984 reg ERF box van in the last pic, well with the exception of the damage to the bumper.
