Never seen this before

I,ve never seen an excavator converted like this before so thought i,d share.

Looks like a Convery Into a Yarder which Pulls a Winch with trees attached up the hill like on Axe Men.

Yes i realize its been converted to a yarder, just never seen it done to an excavator before.It was taken in the Afan valley up from port talbot.

I've never seen them cut down trees in wales just notice a bare hill side the next day. Nice pics. I wondered how they did it on this side of the pond.

Good pictures.
They are known as a 'skyline' over here.
There are a few about, the Europeans normally building them, but A & B Services of Killin, Perthshire, are one British company doing conversions, but use smaller winches mounted on the base machine rather than the boom.

A yarder is actually quite rare over here. The work is usually done by a harvester and a forwarder. The yarder is usually only used on very steep hillsides.
