Ainscough cranes

Post #1 by Gaz » Wed Mar 23, 2011 6:52 pm

I've just signed onto the forum and thought i'd share a few of my pictures of Ainscough cranes. I've worked for them now for coming on 5 years and currently drive a Liebherr LTM1150 6.1 out of the East London depot in Beckton. Over this time i've gathered a hell of a photo collection of various jobs throughout London and surrounding area.

I'll post a few to start with and if there are any requests of a Ainscough crane let me know. If I don't have it i'm pretty sure I can get it. Any questions feel free, I a self confessed crane fanatic and love my job :D

Went through a phase of working with the 1000 almost every week when I was on the 100.

Shortly after the CC2500 entered the fleet a CC2800 arrived, by this time I had parted with the 100 and was driving another brand new crane....the LTM1150 6.1. One of my 1st jobs was to rig up the brand new CC2800 at the olympic park.

I've got hundreds of pictures of this machine.

Then arrived the flagship of the fleet as it stands, Terex Demag TC2800, this was its 1st job at Harwich port, which is where I just happened to be in the 150.

Last summer Ainscough acquired Weldex's LG1550 and sprayed it up in our livery, some weeks later it had a tandem lift with the new TC2800, both cranes looks the amazing rigged on heavy duties to lift the 300t SS Robin onto a barge.

hi gaz

glad to see you've joined cmn!

Just a random question, but how did you get into crane operating? Is there like a process you go through, or did you find an apprenticship with someone?

Kind of a simple one to answer this, I got lucky. I was leaving the RAF after 9 years service and was looking for a job, I always had a intrest in heavy haulage and was lucky enough to have my crane ticket through the RAF. A friend did the rest, gave me a number and I called it, started 2weeks later at a company called Bronzeshield in Dartford. This was 5 years ago when the Market for cranes was very good, this would not happen nowadays I'm afraid.

I moved over to Ainscough shortly after cos I had a friend who worked there and he got me a start.

Super pictures mate, sorry but I have another question!! Do you have someone with you when rigging up? To help place the pads? I image you go to some jobs alone and would have to set them yourself?
