Spotted this old survivor at Port Glasgow ,a Smith Rodley rail mounted crane ,surely the scrap man must be closing in soon though.

Past this old timer many times over the years and it's a shame no one has took pity on it and restored it got up to it a while back and it was pretty rough, They are slowly renovating area it sits in so how long it will be there remains to be seen.

Old Smith grab crane on dredger Gypsey Race, working in Whitby Harbour yesterday.

That is a Smith 28.

Found this photograph on a german forum, a Smith C4050.

At the first sight I would say it is, but when I get a closer look I doubt it. The crane looks very much on the old type C4050 but I see a cabin on this side of the machinery cover. Image

A Smith super-10, build in 1955 and still in use at Douglas.

It's very difficult to see of this point of view, they are basically the same.
May I use the picture some day?

There is very little information and photo's of diesel cranes on the internet from Thomas Smith.
That's why I made a website of them.
It's only in dutch.
