Weldex Cranes at Suset.

Post #1 by Joes1989 » Sat Jun 21, 2008 9:57 pm

Just thought id share some pics of Weldex's Alfreton Yard that i took when i was out with my ex one friday night.

I couldnt resist getting the camera out when i saw the sunset in the background with these big crawlers in the foreground.

i worked for weldex for 4 years as a roving heavy crane operator, spent many happy hours at alfreton too.loved the job immensely but had to give it up after an idiot knocked me off my bike on the way into work on the 25 march 2008.now after 2 years i am still not repaired enough to try and operate cranes so i am a commercial fisherman instead,at least the only person i can kill now is me.
what happened to the pictures by the way?i would love to see them

wont be many in at the moment as they are busy with the 2012 olympics.thats the lr1400 liebherr in the pics.when iwas in the yard she was be tested to limit and beyond to make sure she could do what it says on the tin.believe me that is awesome being there to watch the testing, well actually i was using an lr1100 to place the weights for the tests.got a lot of happy memories from that yard and also the town of alfreton

yeh alfretons not bad to be honest......im from south normanton just up the road! There has been a fair few cranes in over the last month or so but i guess they've gone out again! I did see a carbody of a CC2800 on Heanor Haulages wagon last friday heading south......i know they have/had some cranes out near donnington too....i might go down to Weldex tomorrow if the weather decides to be nice! haha

thats some beast i tell you,i helped rig and test one of those then worked on a site in maidstone where they had one operating, she picked up 60 tonnes and swung it out to over 60 metres on her luffing fly jib!!!!quite a machine and were it not for my motorcycle accident i would of been operating one in London now.when i find all my pics of different cranes i will upload them for all to see.
