heres an 818 i have been driving recently nice tractor with great pulling power and stops very well with the air brakes vario gearbox and the exaust brake.
had quite a few problems with it thought stopped on the road one day just slamed on the brakes causing the driver to nearly exit through the front window, then it wouldnt go forward or back, but it would freewheel so we had to get it recovered. :(

fendts are nice tractors my friend has a 920 that has been dynoed and has 250 at the shaft :o a 712 and a 309
a local large estate brought 2 818,s and they were terrible turbo blew at low hours (under 1000) dealer had two on the shelf :o had a new turbo fitted but still did not perform well and it had a new engine less than a 100 hours later
when it went to the main workshop there were two more 818,s with the same problem
the second 818 has a job to get 250 hours before it needed an oil change
the oil samples that were taken came back bad very bad
the one with the new engine has been traded for a big case

the 920 with vario and exhaust brake is great you hardly ever need to touch the brakes and it has a 5" stainless steel straight through exhaust (which can get on your nerves after a while)
cheers graham

yes it certainly has a loud bark when put to work (it roared on the dyno )
the 920 does not have the best of brakes even when new
i took a load of cast iron into the scrap yard a year or so ago ,it was all 18" water pipe that we had smashed into small bits i had a bin on the hooklift and the 920 on the front it pulled well and i was 36ton on the bridge :dizzy:
cheers graham

wow thats some weight to pull behind a tractor,
the volvo's nice thanks, the only complaint is that its a little slow on the road, but apart from that all good, had a throatle cable snap when i first had it but apart from that touch wood been very reliable, parts seem resnoble £26 for the cable, not to bad! is it? and about £30 pounds for the oil and fuel filter for a 500 hr service??
works a little quiet round here at the moment tho, think i may have bought it at the wrong time :dizzy: thats life!

Jason, cool down, I´m sure this is nothing but a simple misunderstanding.
We all like to read what you, Nick and all the other guys are writing.
I (not having English as my first language) might miss something in between the lines now and then but I have never seen anyone writing what I would call "self glorification" on CMN. Not you and not anyone else at all.
And I didn´t automatically think of you or anyone else on the forum when I read about "self glorification" above.
And I would definitely not like to see you and Nick become enemys and one or the other leaving the forum as I and probably most of the other members like what the both of you write.

Nick, as I wrote to Jason, isn´t this just a misunderstanding?
Take care not to let this escalate!
