Re: D822A & flatlift
The challenger with the extra power and speed now pulls the land-packer,
seeing its got air-con and a dust proof cab my son has claimed it but
there with it being the main workhorse he,ll be working more hours
the D6C now pulls the 5 mtre dyno.

Re: D822A & flatlift
to finish off the seedbeds we made a powered tool-carrier with a 150hp
gardner engine direct into a 5 mtre power harrow.

Hi Roly, I'd love to see that 22a and 10 furrow plough working.
I've never seen a 'trailed 3 point linkage' before with an engine to drive the PTO, home made ?
Truely great Cat farming !!
John.

Re: D822A & flatlift
the challanger looks a beast! not something you see alot in cornwall, although i expect tracked machines are very good for limiting ground compaction when you want a loose seed bed!

Re: D822A & flatlift
Hi John,
next time its working be my guest the reason for the powered tool carrier
is we used to run a 3.5 metre powerharrow behind a 75hp tractor, it had to work day
and night to give the drill a days work,we needed to change to a 5 metre but i did,nt
want the weight and cost of a 250hp tractor to run it,in the nettles we had this 150hp
gardner engine left over from a lorry to corn trailer conversion,Hm i wonder?so got some
angle iron out the scrap bin with the lorry front axle and welded the thing together, with
fiat 120 linkage on the back the only thing i had to buy was a reverse rotation gearbox(because the engine was turning the wrong way for the powerharrow)reduced down so
when the engine was flat out at 1750rpm the pto was turning at 1000rpm into the powerharrow, and it worked a treat keeping the weight down while making the seedbeds,
the only mods its got now are a raised dry airfilter and wider tyres,a bit of fun we had while building it we stood a little wheel at the front, put a chair and steering wheel on at the back and said we was building a tractor .

That's a great piece of kit, Roly. I can understand why you made it.
I should think the Gardner engine will go on forever.
If you let me know when you get the 22a and 10 furrows going, I'd love to take you up on your offer
John.
