I bought this MF loader recently,& now I need to identify the model.It was advertised as a 168,sold as a 165....but I think it's something like an early 50,or a 203...or ???
The ID tag is faded, but I can get # 810088 from it.
The gearbox & Loader Frame have MF OEM numbers on them...I might have to trace the machine thru these numbers.
The engine is a Perkins 203.Gearbox is 3 speed with L-S-H range selector lever.Note the wheel weights & hydraulic tank & filter.
I need to open her up for a new clutch .She will make a good fork & crane tractor for me.
Any thoughts on her ID?
Thanks,
Jim

The same seller had an IH 250 Drott for sale.
My first time in the seat of one...a nice big lump of metal.

Re: MF Loader ID ??
Thanks EssexPete,
I'm not too familiar with MF tractors...there seems to be a lot of models & variants.
Besides the ID plate,is there any other way to definitively learn what model it is?
Engine starts well,& I got it moving by gently moving the range lever....even though clutch is near toasted. It should be a handy yard unit for me..

Re: MF Loader ID ??
jim those wheel weights were standard on all MF tractors in OZ of that size the pedestal is the oil tank and the filter on the side are standard for OZ MF type of loaders the 168 was a longer wheel base than the 165 in agg tractors so I would have thought it would be a 165 for the loader frame to fit all just thinking out allowed

Re: MF Loader ID ??
Is it a 3 or 4 cyl? The small MF industrial was a hybrid of a 35/135 3cyl (152 engine) with the transmission of a 65/165 normally with the addition of dual braking.

Re: MF Loader ID ??
Thanks Lads ,
It's a AD4-203 diesel.It has power steering,& is a reasonable size..bigger than a 135, i think.Tyres are 16.9-28.
I started looking at MF50A & 3165 pictures last night. I'm getting closer, but my loader frame is a little different than pics I see.Maybe this thing is a frankenstein loader...I'll call it "FrankenFerg".
If you look at TractorData, the sheer MF model range is ridiculous...how many models & variants can you have? It looks like they invented a new model every time the weather changed!
I'm about to go outside & look it over again.

Re: MF Loader ID ??
I took the faded Id plate off,so I could take a close look at it.
I think this is a 3165 S model. The faded info was at the very bottom of the ID plate.Coventry is mentioned on the plate, along with trademark info/patents.
I found Flickr pics of one at a tractor show in the UK... Cloughmills Vintage Rally 2013.
Now I gotta find a shop manual. At least I know what I have..
Thanks to all,
Jim
