Aveling Barford MG Grader Axles

Post #1 by Yewman » Tue Apr 13, 2021 12:54 am

I had a message via Email from this classic forum, that "Mike" with MG 1906 in Australia wanted information about the axles.
I can't find a post or a message, and have no way of contacting him.
Send another message and i can give you the required info.

Hi Paul.
i am new to this site and still working it out .
My email is c2cearthmoving@gmail.com
need info on rear diff center as my crown wheel and pinion needs replacing, or just a pinion would get her going again.
Cant work how to get crown wheel out of housing.
a cross reference to Austin Western model might help as some parts in America
Cheers
Mike

OK, Mike, I have the Workshop manual. I can send pages. Any axle parts apart from bearings will have to be used, as the company folded in 2010

On the Austin Western question, although the basic design was virtually the same as the one Aveling Barford made under licence in the late 1950's and early 1960's, the Crownwheel and pinion gears were uprated several times, and it is unlikely but perhaps not impossible that an A-W part will fit.
Also this MG model was an Aveling Barford design from day one. It was the 99H which was based on A-W.
