Clay Mills Pumping Station

Post #1 by Ian Fletcher1970 » Sun May 26, 2013 7:54 pm

I know that this isn't really machinery related, but today I visited Claymills Pumping Station in Burton On Trent - a part restored steam driven pumping station. Highly recommended and here's a couple of videos

Hi Richard,
It was very nostalgic - to see what we used to be able to make in this country - there was a very nice workshop there too

I don't know about that; I would say that it is most certainly classic machinery, there is a similar working pump next to the 'Space Centre' at Leicester, also in the same grounds is a steam shovel, well worth a visit if your in the area.

Hi Ian
Its pure artwork, i can sit and watch them for hours, they are mesmerizing.
The Skill involved from design through to assembly was amazing, Just think of the stress the first time they ran it!
I am up in the Chatsworth area this week so i will try and sneak over to have a look, :shifty:
