Flickr Photo Accounts - Paying for it

Post #1 by XS650 » Thu Oct 04, 2012 10:01 am

Thought it was time the world shared my photo collection and could coo over my fantastic photography skills, not . :) and started putting pics on Flickr .
But did not realise you had to PAY :arrrrgh: once you reached 200 pics , being a tight northern git this has left me deep in thought , is it worth it ? are there better alternatives ?

Probably still one of the best available....... It's not crammed full of advertising etc, it's quick and easy to use both to upload and search as well as allowing hi- res images. Is it worth it ?? Probably. I'am a tight northern as well and I still go pro each year.

I've got a pro-account - I personally think the £15 per year is well worth it. There's quite a lot of CMN members on there with accounts who I regularly share images with and vice-versa.

Please be aware that not everyone can see photos hosted by those external services.
I cannot see photobucket, flickr and some other services from work for example.
Also, some services have shut down, in Sweden "Bilddagboken" closed some months ago, leaving the images shown in forums elsewhere with red crosses. Very disturbing.

I would suggest to upload the images to the forum. We have been online since 2007 and will be online for many more years.

Will still be posting to forum but its nice to see all your photos in one place and be able to categorise them and share , also like the create galleries function where you can create a gallery of other peoples photos, featuring a topic or machine you like .

Ihave been with flickr a long time-nearly 7 years or more- I would say firstly- if your a keen photographer or wish to share a lot of images-say upto 100 uploads a month or more then get the pro account- however...you are still allowed a free upload amount each month without the pro account (free) - once youve used that months free upload limit you must wait until the next month before your next free upload limit is permitted-

Ihave made a number of good contacts -sourced much information and classic photos and made a number of good good friends through flickr- For me its a great site !
