On the June bank holiday an attamp will be made to recover an Atlas 30 ton long reach excavator from a bog, on the banks of the Woodford canal. The machine was lost in 1992 when WAM was doing regeneration work was been done on the canal, and for a time only the top of the boom and dipper could be seen sticking out of the bog.
Money raised will go to to three charities, Bailiebrough Cancer Care, Friends of Cavan Oncology, and Northern Ireland Childerns Hospice, (which helped my son), very good cause.
The photo is of the sister machine of the one lost but I think it is in Atlas colour. Good luck to the lads as the try to recover the Machine.
