Rules about electric windows

Hi, Here's a question for you...
Many years ago I did a basic retro fit of electric windows to my car. I was subsiquently told that by law, the driver's window had to be what was called 'one shot', ie one press made the window go all the way down without holding the switch. Since then, every vehicle I've had with electrics have had the one shot capability.
Now I have been supplied with a new van and the window does not have the one press lowering.
Was it ever a legal requirement? Is this vehicle faulty, illegal or just cheap?
Any thoughts?

Rob I don't know what the law says concerning this but perhaps the law if there is one regarding this is different for commercial vehicles? Just an idea.

It's definately a possibility, along with my other suspison - cheap!

One way would to be consult the owner's manual, if missed try the service manual in regard to that feature. If it was just bought, simplest is to go down to where it was purchased and ask to look over the same model ... you could be interested in buying one for yourself.

Doh! Never thought to look in the manual...
The only thing I looked for in the manual was the radio instructions and after a week of use I'm still far from convinced that even that works properly.
