Valves

Post #1 by martyn williams » Tue Sep 24, 2013 7:17 pm

A valve out od an International Harvester BD264 engine as used on the BTD6 tractor and a valve off a Sulzer LDA28C twin bank 12 cylinder engine of 2750 hp as fitted to a class 47 locomotive. See video of the Sulzer engine.Great to work on

Would that be the Sulzer piston that they are posed on - or something more domestic?!

No that white thing is one of those welsh giant mushrooms! When i did my traction trainee course as part of the locomotive mechanics they gave us an injector from a sultzer engine that was bloomin massive too.

Yes its a milk churn
Going back to the Sulzer engine, this valve came out of 47502 in 1979, it had dropped a valve smashing the turbo charger , inter cooler and 5 pistons. Piston diameter 28 cm. The loco was renumbered and named Haymarket, its still in use

There was one of those Sulzer engines driving a Scrap Frag in one of the yards where we do some work on the loading machinery
