It's "devil's night", or the night before Halloween. Since I also collect a lot of dvd movies, which about half of them are horror movies, I figured it might be appropriate to ask:
What is your favorite scary movie?
Please list only one.....vintage and rating doesn't matter.
I'll start this off with my current favorite:
THE HILLS RUN RED (2009), directed by Dave Parker

Re: The Halloween Survey
Just what is classed as horror today, blood and guts everywhere, things being done to human bodys that quite frankly beggars belief, for that sort of thing i would say the Saw series is perhaps the best for cringe .... as for hairs sticking up on the back of your neck type, i think you have to go a long way to beat the original Exorcist closely followed by the Ring.

Re: The Halloween Survey
Thank you all for the responses to this survey .
I think we all agree that it's hard to find a good scary movie these days. I've seen a lot of not so good ones. Seen some that went way overboard on the violence and gore just to get a cult following. And have seen a few that are very good, with directors that use the viewer's imagination instead of adding more fake blood, and fake(r) CGI effects. Like each response I received in this survey.
I'm still a Vincent Price, Anthony Perkins, Barbara Steele, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing fan. They were on every Saturday afternoon's "Creature Feature" movie on channel 50 from Detroit (early independant cable channel), when I was a kid in the '70's
