I managed to put a coat of yellow primer on the bucket yesterday. I gave it a rub down with some wet and dry today and gave it a second light coat.

I think it looks pretty good now with a coat of colour on it.

All going well it will get some CAT yellow on it tomorrow.

What type of paint are you using? I've tried car paint before but think I rushed it a bit!

A lot swear by halfords car paint.

The colour on the bucket there is halfords Filler primer. It's gone on pretty well but the jury's out on it's filling capabilities!

I have a tin of Genuine CAT yellow paint in a rattle can good to go on next. I have been told that it can be a bugger to use. Make sure the tin is warm and spray lot's of thin layers.

I will try that tomorrow!

Stick done tonight. Lifting eyes and hydraulic lines done. Just needs a good clean up and it's ready for priming.

Cheers,

It nearly went for priming but I forgot to put a couple of lifting eyes a little futher down the stick! That would have been tragic!

Bucket is now painted with genuine CAT paint.

I've had to do a bit more work on the stick, added 4 x lifting eyes, piping for the bucket rams and piping down the back of the stick for the bucket opening rams.

It's off to paint tomorrow.

Looking good when you put it back together what pins do you use the original or do you use something like silver-steel? Do you secure these ram/hinge pins or not?

I will use the white plastruct rod you can see in the photo to put through the hinges and then make some end caps to go over them. They will be painted and have bolt heads on them.
