PC1100 Grills now stripped of paint, in there and filled. Just need to do a touch more filler.

What have you used to secure the grill?

Miliput, lot's of it, you dont want to see the back of it

It was a bit trial and error but it seems to have set rock solid and is in there good and propper!

Milliput is a great filler! I use it for the big stuff the squadron green for smoothing to final finish!

This is the filled stick and boom, it was originally hollow!

It still needs a bit to do on it before it goes for priming. The filler needs bits adding then sanding down, it's just a long slow process to get it smooth. While part of me thinks sod it, nobody can see it under there I know it's not right.

Have you considered using a plastic sheet and shaping it thus keeping the weight of filler down; I know it's not a straight forward shape but you could have wedged the plastic sheet in place once you had got the shape right, that was just an idea?

Most of the inside of the boom and stick are filled with foam. The filler is only a couple of mm thick, a little thicker in some places.

This week I have filed down all the molded on pipework and plastic pipe fittings. Took it right down to the shiny!

I plan on adding 2 more wear plates to the outer edge of the bucket sides and and some hydraulic pipe routing for the bucket opening rams.

Have added some wear plates to the outer edge sides of the bucket mouth.

Still need sanding down to a better shape but happy with them.

Been thinning down the PC1100 tracks tonight. I took about 1mm of each side.

I broke the tracks down into 6 lengths and found these m6 100mm bolts that fit in there just nice and tight keeping all the pads aligned.

That bolt held them all in a nice straight line in the vice and left about 1mm sticking out to be filed down.

This is one of the filed down sections next to the original track.

All the filed down sections are staying on the bolts for now to clean them up, I may also need to file a little bit more off and straighten them up a bit.

All in all it seemed to work ok with no major issues.
