Hi

I am not even remotely familiar with dumpers. I haven't viewed images either (running broswer at low bandwidth at the moment) but a search of the number suggests

Aveling Barford Dumper SXD 020

It could be a red herring but ...

thanks for your replies, has anyone got any information on this dumper?

the dumper has an electric start lister ph2, the starter motor doesn't appear to be the correct one for the engine ans the drive dog tends to clash with the ring gear and for dome reason the starter hasn't enough power to turn the engine, does anyone know where i can get a replacement starter for it at a reasonable price? we have had this starter off and held it in the vice, whilst putting power to it we held a piece of batton to the drive gear but failed to stop the unit turning, this indicates to us that there is nothing wrong with the starter itself. i have attached a few pictures of the starter

With SXD020 as model number it is definetly an Aveling Barford SXD020 , banging this into google brings up service and operators manuals and a 1989 model for sale.
