swopping a Petter PH2 for a lister ST2

Post #1 by manx674 » Tue Apr 02, 2013 10:10 pm

hi, i have aquired a liner 4x4 roughrider fitted with a petter PH2 engine, the previouse owner had trouble starting it so decide to clean/rebuild top ends, they did one and left the other in bits and parked it in corner of the yard for a few yrs, i have finshed rebuilding it but had no luck in starting it yet, , i have been offered a lister ST2 that was working when it was removed and has been stored inside a dry shed, would the lister ST2 be powerfull enough for the dumper?? and would a swop be straight forward??

What's their respective BHP's?

One thing that maybe awkward would be taking the drive from the engine. My Thwaites Orion with PH1 takes the drive to the gearbox/clutch from the engine camshaft and not the crankshaft. Swapping an engine onto my Orion that only had provision for crankshaft coupling would result in a dumper capable of twice the forward speed, but in reality would no longer be able to pull the skin off a rice pudding unless you doubles up the engine capacity!
