Thwaites 6000 MKII - Brake fluid

Post #1 by Yozza » Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:59 pm

Hello,

I have managed to get hold of a manual and parts list :D

I need to replace a brake pipe due to damage and intend to flush out the system while I'm getting covered in oil. The manual mentions two types of oil:

Shell Tellus 37 ('V' Port Slave Cylinder)
Vegetable Oil Girling Universal

I'm not sure which one I need yet, I need to check to see what type of slave cylinder is fitted (in-line or v-port)???

Do any of you good people know where I can buy these grades or modern day equivalents? I have seen iso 32 mentioned in the same sentence as the shell oil.

Any assistance greatly appreciated, driving without brakes isn't fun :wtf:

Cheers,
Yozza

Hi Yozza,

good luck with your machine.
I am sure someone here can help you with your question!

(If you ever scan the manual we would be happy to have it in our downloads-section.)

It's an electronic copy with part list too.

I'll add it to the downloads section when I get 5.
