Thats a lovely machine. If anyone in Ireland has one for sale please let me know. Dumpers really are my specialist interest!

Re: George Fowell OR Fowler Dumpers
Just re-read this thread. I notice the references to the flat belt. When I had mine, I turned up a twin Vee pulley on the drive, and ran it as Vee/Flat with the BIG driven pulley.
Not original, but the did not slip like the all flat belt. But that was a long time ago, about 1972 I think.
Les.

Interesting bit about George Fowell here , also made rollers and mixers . Were they the first with the 'Baromix' ?

Good find there Craig, thanks for sharing.
I didn't realise there were two dumper models, and knew nothing of the roller, though i do remember seeing their barrow type mixer back in the 1950s.
I know at that time "Barrowmix"were in existance and produced a hand turned version of the Barrowmix but I don't know what else.

Re: George Fowell OR Fowler Dumpers
Was quite surprised to find these quite modern looking GF dumper pics on a quarry site on the net. Never seen these types before anywhere. Think its a safe bet to assume they are George Fowells as they have GF on and are front steer. They have been equipped to handle concrete skips .

Hi Craig,
I think I have seen those pics before, thanks for posting.
Bit more Fowell info. Below.
They made two models of dumper, a half ton model which they called "The Builders Mate." This originally had a JAP petrol engine but later ones and the one ton models appeared with Petters PAZ1 and Lister LD1 engines. Picture below half tonner circa 1950.
They also made a one ton roller.
The original "Baromix" was also a GF product. I seem to remember the first ones were turned by hand.
Where did the Winget connection come from

Re: George Fowell OR Fowler Dumpers
Hi.
New to the forum.
Thought I'd share the pictures of my late grandfathers George Fowell Light Dumper Type A.
Been sitting in a barn/shed for 25 years without working.. But I remember starting and driving this when I was 10/11 years old in the late 80's.
Has a petter ava1 diesel 5.5hp engine.
Also, rarely according to this thread, it has the original makers plate, and engine plate.
Seems it had another engine on it from the original at some point, as the petter plate states 'reconditioned' and the engine serial number doesn't match the engine number on the gf plate.
Unfortunately she doesn't start, no compression...

Re: George Fowell OR Fowler Dumpers
Hi Tris welcome to CMN that dumper is in lovely condition and well worth saving; that should not take much to get sorted and would make a lovely project, let us know how you get on with it.
