Winget 2S wheel nut thread size?

I searched but didn't find the answer...

Edited - the correct thread size is 5/8 x 14tpi

Hopefully that will help someone in the future if they have the same problem as me!

Does anyone know what size thread the wheel nuts/studs are on Winget 2S 1-ton dumpers? Mid 1970's vintage. I think they have a Salisbury 5HA axle if that helps.
I need to rethread one of the wheel studs.

I thought it was 5/8 x 14tpi, but that's too small.
I'm pretty sure the 14tpi is correct by my thread gauge, but the diameter - I'm not sure any more!

If its a Salisbury diff then look mat Landrover sizes. Whitworth and possibly BSF. If you have one take it to a nut n bolt shop or use a thread gauge to measure the TPI then diameter of the stud

A Google for early 60s Land rover suggests 9/16 BSF.
So if you have a fastening supplier near by I would do as Cobba John suggests and take an old part in, even if only to assertain the correct size. There seems to be quite a few selling Land rover parts on the Internet.

Thanks both. I've tried the the Land Rover route.
As per my original post, the thread diameter is more than than 5/8, so a 9/16 Landover stud is even smaller still. I'm pretty sure the pitch is 14 tpi as that's what my thread gauge says, but the diameter doesn't seem to tally with any dies I can buy to chase the thread.
Sadly I don't have any fastening suppliers near by that I can get to in working hours.
I was hoping someone would just happen to know the correct thread size to save me trying to guess.

Would it be 11/16 then? That size appears to be available as a wheel stud with UNF thread.

According to thread data charts, 11/16" BSF is 14 TPI. Your wheel studs could be slightly below 11/16 due to wear and tear etc. Have you measured the DIA of the good studs?

Tracy tools have a 11/16 BSF carbon steel die nut £6, good enough to clean threads up.

I've got to decide whether I just cut the stud down to 5/8, try to buy a new stud, or look for a secondhand hub with good studs and just swap the whole thing over.

All this because someone didn't take care to put the wheel nut on properly

Will the studs punch out of the drum?

The wheel studs should be pressed into place. Remove the hub or use a good torch to see behind it to confirm. If it is pressed then press the damaged one/s out and new ones in. I certainly would not try to machine them dow a size and thread again that will weaken them plus new nuts will not suit the taper of the wheel. It would be nothing but a disaster.
In the off chance the studs are welded in place then grind the weld back to be flush with the hub, press old stud out and fit new one. It might need welding again, I dont know.
