thwaites 4x4 aligator dumper

does anyone know where i can get a steering box for a thwaites 4x4 aligator dumper or where i can get one reconditioned
also looking for parts to convert to battery start or what to look for thanks

You ask at David Cornwallis, Thwaites specialist. I think the box is similar to the 2wd models, moving a spool valve in the case of the 4wd.Water ingress down the long tube may have been the problem. If the inwards are not completely shot, you might get away with bearings.

As for electric start you need to tell us what engine, model and direction it rotates. Check to see that your flywheel does has teeth first not all did.

Hi all.
I converted a Petters PH2 to electric start, I used a a donor engine for parts as mine did not have the starter ring Fly wheel. I posted the conversion on here. I think it comes under dumper TLC or Wingate 4s dumper. I had to fashion the tin work as there wasn't any made for that model.

I have an alligator that I'm using as a donor. Has steering box on but don't know if it's any good or not.

Very interested in the electric start option and details/ hints if anyone has managed to do one as struggling to swing the handle due to tendonitis.
