Then found the clutch is seized on and wont disengage. Another job to do.... as well as adjusting up the brakes. Also need a new set of front tyres, as mine have started to crack up and split. Never ends...

All part of the joy (or expense) whichever way you want to look at it, for me there is some satisfaction at getting something restored to some sort of former glory.

I wonder if something is just not quite set up correctly? We had a Nimbus that was fairly knackered when I was a kid. It had a very occasional oil change and belched black smoke under load but it started fairly easily.

Starting requires a can of Cosby party gas. It quite happily ticks over. Not very responsive on when reving up, so Im guessing it needs the timing and fuel setting up properly.
