I think grafting on a different box may be problematic especially if the ratios are different.

Yes it would Peter and is why I suggested that he makes sure that the boxes are the same, if not if the shaft is interchangeable. Though if it is a change in ratio in the drop box that would be no different then changing diff ratios and give a different ratio only, not sure. What is you thoughts?

I've had a search of the Internet and I can't find any, there's a couple of newage transfer boxes on eBay but not sure if they are suitable, I've found a company who does make driveshafts called beard and Fitch and they say they make them for classic restorers?

Thank you very much! I will follow up with Beard and Fitch and see if they can help me.

Yes, I agree - this particular box is quite unusual. But good news - I found a similar dumper for sale on eBay with transmission box intact and have purchased it! So now I have two dumpers :? In the immortal words of the Spice girls - "tonight is the night, two become one..."

I would still like to get the shaft repaired / re-made so I am following up on the Beard and Fitch lead

Usually by now one of the more knowledgeable members have been in here and would offer better advise than what I have, but we don't always live on Forums. Good luck and you are doing very well so far with your research and hopefully that box is suitable for you.

Thanks - as you can see I am making progress. I will post updates on the restoration in due course!

Oh dear, your collection has grown by yet another one. This is an ongoing problem we have in this hobby, they continue to grow all the time and just when you think you have enough another one turns up. Well thats how it went for us with tractors, a dumpy, about 7 stationary engines and way too many lawn mowers.
It can be like "who has the most toys wins" at times.
Hope you can sort out that broken shaft and then you can races around the block.
Cheers Cobba

UPDATE: Got a response from Beard and Fitch. Estimated £895 + VAT to remanufacture the shaft. They won't consider a repair.

Unfortunately this is too expensive for me on this project.

Anyone got any ideas?

Sound advice there Norman  Have a ring round a few breakers, they may just be able to offer you the part or transmission that you need.
