Benford TT2500 dumper
Hi my 1984 Benford TT2500 dumper which I use pretty much daily has lost its power. This has happened gradually over the past few weeks. Difficult to get it rolling from a standing start, often needs a nudge from a digger. The smallest incline is a problem and if there is anything in the skip it will jump out of gear. Curiously it works OK in reverse. Its got the standard Lister 3 cylinder engine which seems to be fine. Initially thought it was a compression problem but now thinking its transmission/clutch. Any one had similar experience or can offer advice. Thanks in advance

Hi
Does sound like the clutch may be on the way out if it needs a nudge from a digger to get it going, if its jumping out of gear there could be a bearing on the way out too!
Good luck

Engine should start by crank or starter motor even if you had no clutch. So you need to establish why it is not starting.
Yes clutch might be the offending part but the jumping out of gear is a selector problem or maybe a bearing in the gearbox. Time for some serious maintenance of which they are all repairable just some time and money. Sounds like it is an important part of your work to have it running properly again so start on sorting the engine then work your way along the drive chain.
