Hi,
The circlip comes out easily enough. There's a small hole in the pump housing alongside the circlip groove. Push a rod through the hole to unseat the circlip.

UPDATE / SOLUTION
so turns out the rack teeth were gone. To save faff just went & bought a new pump & all ok. Builder covered cost.

Next issue is they stripped more or less all the last material from the clutch shoes. Does anyone have any basic instruction on how to start taking the clutch off? It seems to be adjusted as tight as possible now so dont think there is any other solution than new shoes (or re-furbing as seem to remember you cant get them?)

Looks like the back tin work might have to come off for access (except all bolts rusted) generally looks a PITA to do.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks
