Old Benford Dumper

Post #1 by vwverda » Fri Jun 16, 2017 10:28 pm

hi all
I'm new here
I have a Benford dumper, with AVA1 petter motor
Unfortunately I do not know what type and which construction year.
He has already changed my belt drive.
I am looking for belt and belt for motor.

Probably quieter than when it was new! I would guess it's age as late 50s to mid 60s. It look very tidy.

Hi Stefan and welcome  I would imagine that a drives and bearings supplier may be able to help you out with a drive belt, hope that helps.

Hi Stefan,
Not an educated guess in any way but after sifting through some pics I would suggest maybe a Benford 750, 1965ish.
Wonderful scenery you have there!

Hi
Thanks for you all reply.
Yes, this is a Benford 750 of 60th year.
But I do not know where or who can I ask for belt and pulley.
I've sung in the ebay belt, was 4 years ago for sale, but no one bought.
I sent a message to the seller, maybe he still has this part.
Everywhere search forums and always ask whether from where I can get rid of, but no one knows.
Have a nice day
Thank you hair bear it is a beautiful district. Much mountain and beautiful country
Regards
Stefan

Is it a flat type of belt? Is the belt effectively the clutch? Would it be possible to re-pulley and belt with a more modern available equivalent?

Hi
It was with flat belt drive, but in the engine is a normal belt pulleys.
The transmission is still the original flat belt pulleys. So used.
I want to re-install the original flat belt. So is original and so works right.
I need for engine a pulley and the right belt. But I do not know what length (3 "belt). I do not know diameter for richige pulley for engine.
That's why I need someone who knows.

hi i own the same dumper with 3 inch belt cluch
the top pulley is 4 inch diameter(101.6mm) x95mm long. note if you change diameter you will change final drive ratios on all gears
the botton pulley has a flange on either side to keep flat belt on pullies which suggests pullies are square and not barrel types
my cluch belt is 3 inch wide (75mm x 4mm thick) try www.stationaryengineparts.com plus you need No 20 size joint or use there jointing service
you need to check their belt is suitable for a minimum bend radius of 2 inch which is your smallest driving pulley
if you put a length of string around both pullies without being affected by the tension pulley this is the short length ie might drive all the time
if you put a length of string around both pullies and round tenion pulley with tenion pulley max in ie max tensioning position this is the long length
you need a length some where between these to lengths
when you press the cluch pedal the tension pulley ie the middle one should move away from drive pullies and make belt slack which is how cluch works
regards
jan
