thwaites 2 ton 4x4

Post #1 by ae92dude » Thu Jun 12, 2014 6:14 pm

Hi ive been given an old thwaites i think its a 70's 2 ton 4x4 artic. Ive just got round to starting work on it and i need some parts for the gearbox i need new main and lay shaft bearings and a thrust bearing but the main issue is the drum clutch ive done some searching and found the drum is a triumph herald brake drum but i need a new expander and drum as mine has a chunk missing. Is there anywhere i can get these parts? I could do with a few other bits and bobs as well but chances of finding one for bits is probably slim lol

cheers Steve

Also contact your local brake business and tell them what you have and what your after. He may laugh but he may also ask how many do you want. Girling brand brake systems were used on many vehicles not just Triumph and you might be surprised that parts might be available also try Goolge Girling brake parts, it is amazing what results come up on some things.
Cheers Cobba
