Hello everyone, I.D my little dumper please

Post #1 by stevegully » Sun May 20, 2018 3:26 pm

Hello everyone,

I have just brought a little (I believe 750kg??) Dumper as shown in the pictures attached. I plan to use it to help me when I build my garage.

So far I have pressure washed it and changed the oil and filter in the single lister engine, and the front diff.

My question is what dumper do I have? Any pointers towards and manuals?

What thread is the wheel nuts? As I am missing two!!

I have a fuel filter but when i took off what i though was the filter housing it did not have a filter in - it was filled up with crud though that i have cleaned out. Is thus a sentiment bowl? Or has someone removed the filter?

It currently has 500×16 on the rear, which are in bad shape. What is the thinking on putting proper 600x16 dumper tyres on the front, and the 600x16 I currently have on the front on the rear?

Thank you, but I feel that this is the first of many questions!!

G'Day Steve,
I too have just bought a little dumper and I am also looking for information about make and model. I did a Google search for an engine workshop manual and found it quite easily online and free. I found the Serial number for my engine on the drivers side of the block and could see it by looking past the rear steering wheel and with the bonnet open for better light. As mine is a 2 cylinder I found that it is a SR2 engine so I was able to download the correct manual for it. Have a look at mine in a thread just 2 down from this thread of yours.
Yes that is a sediment bowl only and maybe should have a fine usually brass wire strainer that is flat and sits above the bowl and against the housing so have a look there of it. It is extremely important to keep clean fuel in the system at all times so go through it all to ensure that rubbish gets into the injector. If unsure a simple inline fuel filter from your local spare parts shop will handle a gravity feed fuel flow and will help keep everything in the fuel system clean.
Cheers Cobba

hi

It looks like it may be a1963 Benford 15 with the rear of the wings being modified, if you look at the thread british dumpers on here there is a brochure for one on page 4 I think and the manuals are in a thread named "15cwt(?) circa 1972 dumper exact date" if the link below does not work

Hi Whitlock 505,
That is some very helpful information with the manuals and hopefully it may help me with my dumper as the gearbox and chassis look similar but I have been guided to believe that mine is a Liner Roughrider. The pic below is what Im trying to ID.
Sorry stevegully for hijacking your thread.

Hi Steve and Cobbadog

This forum is invaluable for identifying old bits of plant, I can't take the credit for the dumper information, that goes to a user called "Johnson Dumper" and all the brochures he has posted, I enjoy trawling through the mass of info on this website and as was mentioned earlier the "search" function is invaluable, type in whatever you can think of and see what the search returns as it picks out words from previous forums, I spend hours trying to help questions that have been asked and help other members if at all possible, Cobbadog I would say yours is definitely a liner roughrider 1250?, found this brochure again by searching in the search box
