I agree Nick really superb pictures. PMI are the Italian equivalent of Kocurek building special long reach and demolition machines. Big demo firms in Italy such as Despe and General Smontaggi use them. Tim

Thankyou achille for sharing your photos
PMI used to build their own Italian designed and built excavator range but moved over to conversions and selling other manufacturers products:

Re: SAMOTER 2008 in Verona, Italy
Yes that first photo is of a soil-compactor previously built and sold by Ingersoll-Rand, but now a Volvo product after AB Volo paid $1.3 billion for the Ingersoll-Rand Road Development business to add a full line of milling, paving and compaction equipment; a range that rivals those offered by Bomag, Cat, Dynapac (who apparently Volvo also looked at before Atlas Copco swooped) and Hamm/Wirtgen to make Volvo a major player in that sector.
As part of the same deal Volvo acquired the I-R line of telehandlers and rough terrian forklifts designed for the US market as well, though don't expect too see Volvo tele-handles in europe any time soon as they have basically admitted that can't compete with JCB, Manitou and Merlo,JLG and others even after they bought the rights to the Upright telehandler range about the same time they bought the Scatrak skid steer loader line from Omniquip.
Volvo sold the telehandlers designs they'd been working on to MEC:

Note the Volvo style paint scheme (imagine the red parts were yellow) and decals and you can see its Volvo ancestry.
