Doe 40th Aniversary Show - February 2010

Post #1 by BulldozerD11 » Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:41 am

February 2010 see the 40th Anniversary of reputably the biggest annual tractor Dealer show in England. The show is held at Ernest Doe and Sons premies in Essex.

Features New and used Tractors and plant as well as machinery demonstrations. Some calssic tractors also on show according to past reports and adverts in the press.

Doe and Sons built the famous 'Doe Triple D' tractors in the 1960s.

So has anybody been to previous ones and is it worth the 200 mile trip down from the North of England for the day ?

If you have never been before and have some spare time, but 400 mile round trip is a long way.

They do make the effort to improve the show each year, they have a reasonable but basic outside caterer and free soup/coffee/tea.

There are usually some show discounts to be had on items from tools to large equipment.

If the weather is kind there is usually a good display of working triple Ds plus past models of ford on show (not huge nos but good examples)

I will most likely go and take Dad but 400 miles, you must decide!

Incidently the show is only about 10mins from the A12, inturn about 40 mins from Ipswich junction of A14 or similar to the M25 close to Brentwood. To the south and M25 this would be longer in heavy traffic.

Thanks Pete
I was thinking of going last year but weather was bad so dropped idea. Would like to get a few more Triple D s/n and photos for the list - http://tractors.wikia.com/wiki/Doe_Triple_D

Distance no object, (fuel bill is these days) :( but free shows help justify it  and time is plentiful as 'resting' most of the time at the moment with this weather and economy.

Went down to Barleylands last year and to Fred Knights working day at Thaxted (nr Stanstead).
