I found a picture of my engine at GDSF taken in 2002. I didn't own it back then.
If anyone is in the North West there's a good vintage/steam gathering at the Leigh Arms on the A49 at Acton Bridge the first weekend in October - I'll hopefully be there so please come and say hello!

Julian.

I would love an Aveling roller.I drove one a few years back.It is owned by Richard Buck from Derby. It a 1920 ex Mountain Ash UDC roller. My home town.I used to follow it everywhere when I was a kid. Then in 1998 I arranged for the roller to be transported from Derby to Mountain Ash for a road run through the town.Hundreds of people turned up to see it.We had a great time.In 1997 I had a go on the late Fred Dibnas roller when we took it to our rally near Cardiff. Will dig out some photos and put them on this site.
Happy days.
Martyn

Great photos , really like the VERY unrestored Chaseside rope operated loader.

Totally agree with you Craig, really wanted to see it working but it had been banned from use (so I was told) as dangerous, rope clutch slipping and would drop the bucket without warning.
Far prefer to see the machines in their working clothes but feel they should work somewhere near correctly.
