Hi Guys,
Well tonight I am travelling up to Leicester (Midlands UK) to attend the opening tomorrow (Thursday) of the new Cat visitors centre at Desford by invitation of Finning Cat.
Tomorrows itinerary includes a factory tour at 10.00, a new product launch at 11.15, and a demo and time in the seat after 13.00.
I hope to be able to share my report and photos here at CMN in the next few days
Nick

New product launch? interesting could it be something exciting like a CAT micro excavator or a compact backhoe to rival the 2CX? Knowing CAT it'll be their new compact tracked loaders.

Re: Cat Visitors Centre Opening.
Ok Guys,
Well last Thursday I attended the opening of the new Caterpillar UK visitors centre in Desford Leicester. The facility can only be described as a "World Class" customer centre and represents an important investment for Caterpillar here in the UK.
The venue includes a showroom area, greeting area, several conference and breakout rooms, gift shop and the opportunity to see a product demonstration from inside the building. I addition to the demonstration area, the visitor centre also has a direct link to the Leicester assembly plant allowing customers to be taken on plant tours to see the value Caterpillar builds into it s products.
Also on the day two new product launches were revealed the all new D-series 8 ton Compact Radius hydraulic excavator the 308D CR and the new C-series Compact Track Loader range the 279C, 287C and the 297C.
It was a great day and I got to try out the new 8 ton machine myself and I must say I was very impressed with the Japanese built machine.
Heres a few photos from the day.
