Old lowloader accident

Post #1 by FOWLER MAN » Fri Nov 25, 2011 6:46 pm

Hi,
There's been a lot of talk of how excavators were moved cross cariage with jibs attatched.
I came across these old pics. of one such move where the lowloader got into trouble.
It must be early 1960s and the excavator is a Blaw-Knox BK50 (Insley).
You'll have to use the wheel on your mouse to enlarge these.

Great old photos Fred. What year the first? My guess 1959.

What has happed to the lo loader in the 2nd. Has the chassis twisted to allow the bogie to become so out of line or do think the coupling bogie has broken?

Hi Pete ,
Thanks. I tought the first one about 1960/61, don't think either of us is far out.
I think the trailer under the Smith is a drawbar job.
Fred

Just found another pic.
