i am sure i saw two big pumps being used to empty a pond on the program grimefighters down in wales ,it was a few years ago now ,and they loaded them with 13 tonners with a ditcher on ,straight into the top of the pump ,and then pumped up to a settlement lagoon
every village has one , is yours missing you

Interesting to hear you are using a concrete pump to move the sludge/silt. Have you ever used a MOLEX pump ? does a similar sort of thing. Used a lot to move peat sludge and sludge from digestors/settlement lagoons.

would it not have been wise to walk the machine out of the gloop using bucket and 1 track, then refit it on hard(er) standing?

You would have really struggled. The track snapped about 15 metres away and walking the machine to that point was the only real option. Although it looks messy the bottom was hard just there. The miracle was I had a spare pair of tracks on the job for something else. The most practical option was to fetch one of those, pass it down using the machine on the bank, carry it over with the JS130 and put it on. Thats why it didn't take too long. Putting on tracks is an OK job if you're in the right mind set. I don't mind, the jobs just got to be done you cann't leave the machine there! :|

My dad told me once he watched a guy on a liebherr 912 trim batters for topsoil for 9 days on 1 track lifting his other track and throwing it round until he passed it then threw it round again .Apparently operator and boss were having a bit of a stand off on deciding who was right about the liebherr needing new track chains.

Hey-up tracshovel......what's a MOLEX pump, it's a new one on me? I'm always looking for new things to try out, can I have the benefit of your experience?

Suppose the obvious thing to do is GOOGLE it!
