What a cracker - Hitachi UH0 53

Post #1 by newjcb123uk » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:18 pm

What a little cracker - Haven't come accross something so orginal for some time - I suspect a prior refurbishment but still was tickled by how straight this machine was - For once it turneed out to be a quick sale with a stack of calls and sold 2 days after advertising. (those were the days) Literally all she needed was a minor service and a good steamwash. Yes yes I wanted to keep  her but bloody bills needed paid

You can't beat those UH series they were fantastic...the forerunner of all the best machines, they set the standard and the build quality has yet to be surpassed especially when you consider their era!

Yes lads the UHO 53 story wasn't all sweetness and light - after a good steamwash a leak from one of the track motors looked like it was goiong to give us a bit of a nightmare but after a good stripping (formula 1 style) it proved to be just a large rubber O ring seal which was fixed within the day.

Have to say I wish I had 10 of these machines in this order as I literally could have sold them all - I even had one punter offering even more money than the selling price :insomnia: but I'm not that ruthless and a genuine sale is a sale

Heres the 53`s bigger brother,a UHO16.Not sure if i`ve posted these before  .
I remember that when i was a kid, where we lived was one large building site.I can remember seeing & watching the Hymac 580`s,Preistman Mustangs,Poclain 60`s to 115`s.But one new large site next to our house had a brand new fleet of these "bright orange diggers",i was only about 7 at the time  .I remember they were mostly UHO 63`s(??)I loved the look of them,i can remember sitting in them on the drivers lunch breaks, those were the days  :D
