My machines

Post #1 by Hammer man » Wed Apr 01, 2009 12:17 am

Heres some pics of my machines. My old FH330 was a 1997,had a hard life but a good machine while i had it.The hammer is the same Monabert V45 i have now.I had a track come off,& the good track snapped while walking it clear  .The JCB is a 2007 330 Auto, our only JCB.I dont think anyone on our firm rates it.I found it guttless & useless,& anything that could come loose, fall of or leak did.The hammer is a Pro Dem which i did`nt rate.I had it for 6 weeks last year while my ZX 350 was in the workshop for line boring on the boom pivot, hence the stripped down photo of it.My ZX350 is a 2004 with 9040 hrs now,& apart from wanting a new undercarriage(still original)is a great machine. My friend had it from new,so it was well looked after.I had the boom snap last year, which was welded, the boom pivot housing re-bored,& a hyd pump casing fail.It has a hard life on breaking but it stands up well, with plenty of power. The Volvo 290c i had for a few weeks while mine was having its pump replaced last month.Very nice :D ,but a bit lacking compared to the 350.

Yeah,Rock Coccain in my lunchtimes!!! ;)
No problems at all with H&S.I do alot of work for Tarmac,& they are very hot on H&S.I would find having the sun streaming in & dazzling me more of a H&S issue.
The tint is dark smoke, which is a 20% tint,so they look dark from the outside, but inside there is still good visability out.On rock breaking i`m sat in the same position alot,so theres no escapping the sun,& it reflects off the rock.Keeps the cab alot cooler too.It only cost £20 for the tint,& it comes off easy enough. :)

Heres the 1st machine i ever drove!I`d just graduated to loading shovels from ADTs,in a quarry in Cornwall. But i over sleept one morning by 3 hrs   When i got in they`d put an agency driver on my L150C.Quarry manager said did i fancy driving the old Cat 330BL,loading a brand new finger screen.Did`nt need asking twice!!!Spent the rest of the summer on it :D .Then once my firm got good reports about me,i got the job in Devon on the Volvo EC140BL.The rest is history.
The Cat was a 1997 i think, well worn & loose, but well up to the job.

A few pics i took today.I pride my self in keeping my machine looking tidy. The counter weight was badly scratched & rusty when i got it,so i spayed it up.From a distance it looks fine, closer it looks a bit patchy.I always have a can of Hitachi orange with me on the odd( :o  )ocasion i put a scratch on it :( .I dont worry about the front as it just get hit all the time from fly rock.If i ever got a new machine i would put extra conveyer belt up the rams etc to protect the paint. As discussed in Joes workplace topic,my name on the door :D She`ll also get a good steam clean before i leave.

Heres my "new"to me 2007 ZX350/3 with my trusty Montabert V45 hammer. This is my 3rd long term Hitachi now after the FH330,ZX350,& now this dash 3.The best machine i`ve had.If the pic looks familiar, its the same quarry(Dolyhir)& parking place that my old ZX350 was parked in in a previous picture. Will add some more when i get back from my holiday.Hopefully the track will be repaired by then. :)
