Post #1 by IBH » Thu Aug 09, 2007 4:08 pm

Seeing as I have a photo to share I thought Id start a thread foor Liebherr Excavators.

Liebherr R954 Litronic (Year unknown)
Image

This photo was taken in early 2006, the R954 is/was located at Dean Quarry operated by Cemex (formerly RMC) on the Lizard in Cornwall, South West England.
This Gabbro quarry is located on the coast and the coastal footpath runs through edge the quarry grounds!

Hi IBH,

Great to see you here ....Welcome!!

Firstly Great pic!! and do you live in Cornwall?? or maybe you were just visiting the South West??

Anyway here is an old photo taken by myself as a boy around 1973/4 of a Liebherr 911 which was working on the construction of the M27 south coast motorway Southampton - Portsmouth, it was owned by Sutton Scotney based Edarn Plant sadly no longer trading

Hello Nick, that is my daughter, she operated that machine for several years with Eltin. It just walked out of the track, you sit so far back in the cab there is no vision below. Went several hundred yards before someone caught up and stopped her. The pic I posted of the D9L in the 777, that was her truck.

Wow Ray that is amazing !!

Your daughter must be quite an operator to be at the controls of such a large piece of kit!!
Is she still operating machines?

Are Women operators common in your neck of the woods?? We are getting a few in the UK these days but they are in the minority sadly

Hi Nick, yes women operators are preferred here, they have a better touch with machines. She has tickets for everything both above and underground including the bomb-squad. Only thing she wont go on is drills. She has time up on the BI 495 rope shovels too.
