Fellow plant and machinery enthusiasts it is my sad duty to inform you that I have just learnt of the passing of Fred aka FOWLERMAN from a good friend. Fred was a regular contributor on here before he sadly became ill and his health deteriorated so that he could not post any further, his stories and knowledge over the years were legendary and I was very fortunate to be in his company on many occasions whilst travelling to different events and he kept us entertained with his tales from the past which made the journeys enjoyable and fun!
He was also a wealth of knowledge with suggestions and tips and tricks on this website and would often participate in posts and try and offer some expertise from past experiences to help if he could, sadly another “old timer” has taken his knowledge to the big library in the sky and hopefully he is regailing them up there with his stories.
Rest in peace Fred it was a pleasure knowing you Sir!
Ian

Thank you Ian for this update; I was aware that Fred was rather poorly and am saddened to hear of his passing from the times that I met up with him at various shows he always wore a smile on his face.
Fred will be missed by all who knew him, he was a regular contributor to this site until he became ill and was a man of great experience when it came to plant, he will be sorely missed by all.

Fred Evans aka FOWLERMAN R.I.P.

Very sad news, Fred had a lifetime of plant knowledge and experience and was always a complete gent . He had seen it all and done it all but was always willing to help without any condescension.
I had the good fortune to meet him at one of Andrew Beulahs events, only problem we had was the North East meets Wales language problem :)

RIP Fred, You were a wealth of knowlege to us all and have helped us with our machines and the problems that they have thrown at us, The old school are legends and are unfortunately getting fewer and fewer which means we will all be poorer for it, For me it has been a pleasure to read your posts and look at your pictures as you shared your memories with us all, You will be greatly missed by myself and everyone that knew you, RIP.

Sad news, condolances to his friends and family. In my albeit brief time so far on this forum it was quickly apparent he had a husge wealth and breadth of knowledge and I enjoyed a couple of virtual conversations with him about some of the field engineering challenges which as an engineer I was utterly fascinated by.

RIP indeed
