Kubota KH-007

Post #1 by Dan Aston light haulage » Tue Mar 02, 2021 9:48 pm

Hi, I’ve just picked up this little Kubota.
Has a few issues I’m trying to sort out, the biggest of which is the engine almost stalls when lifting the main boom.
Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan, these tend to be run at 3/4 to full throttle so if you're trying to operate at near tickover that could be one cause or possibly gummy filters in the fuel and oil systems perhaps. Change all the filters and give 'er sum bunny!

Hi Rob, thanks for that.
I’ve been running at full throttle, I have a full set of filters on order.
Seems strange that the rest of the hydraulics don’t cause it to stall.

Are you getting full travel on the ram?

Ok, just wondered if the ram was bent. I guess the next thing to try is remove one of the ram pins and see what happens with no load on it. If it works then it would suggest the main pivot pin is bad. Has it been standing a while?
Hopefully someone else will jump in and make more sense than me!

Like your thinking, plenty of play in some of the pins. I’ll try it with one end of the ram off.

If that doesn't help then the next thing would be maybe to take the pipes off the ram and connect them together - it'll just pump the oil around in circles but if it's still labouring that may indicate a restriction in that circuit somewhere.

Got to the bottom of the issue today. Turned out to be a fuel problem, one of the injector pipe fittings coming out of the pump was loose dragging air in!
