Fred, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I have just invested the time to carefully strip out the rotary coupling.
I have made sure that the pipes are labelled, thanks for the advice.
A real mission to remove as it's very tight, but I have just cleaned and stripped the coupling on the bench, I am confused about what appears to be the end seals. They are split and appear uniform, but not identical splits on each end; so guessing that they are shot? Please advise where I can source replacement seals?

Fred, Jeremy, if either of you have the time to view the images.
I can't work out whether the individual seals between the ports are synthetic material?
I also can't work out how the individual seals which could be nylon, would have been installed on to the cylinder?
The machine hydraulics operated fine, simply losing fluid from the top of the rotary coupling.

The seals may have some writing on the non wearing face. If not you could do with a visit to a hydraulic shop and see if the seals can be measured and matched.

Gary; the split rings are used for guides and compress when you put the whole lot back together, I put loads of grease on the ones in my Poclain hydraulic cylinders to keep them together as I inserted the piston rod back into the cylinder, this stops them from getting damaged on re-assembly, like Pete says a hydraulic specialist or a bearing/seal distributor should be able to supply you with both new split guides and the seals, hope that helps.

Hi Garry,
The split seals are not in fact seals at all, but the bearings between the center spool and the casing. :think: They hold it in place whilst allowing it to turn. The gap is acceptable :thumbup:
The pressure seals are the narrower ones. As for sourcing them I can offer no more advice than Jeremy and Pete.
There must be a seal supplier somewhere near you who could measure them up and even get them made if required.

Fred, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I went to a very reputable hydraulic trade counter this morning, I don't want to offend anyone but the supplier is a national company.
Total waste of time, the guys I spoke to said we don't strip out rotary couplers; just replace them.
Any road up, I went to a very sound local engineering firm who rebuild almost anything.
Someone is going to measure up my seals and see if it's an off the shelf seal or something having to be manufactured.
Could be a relatively cheap reseal task or slightly more expensive if they can't be matched, but repairable hopefully.
I will let you know once I get a quote.
