To be more mobile with my Hymac i have spent the last couple of mounts building a wagon so i can pull my excavator short distances

Nice one Andy this does make a lot of sense especially with an old cast pad machine that tracks slowly, plus the trailer will come in useful to move other machines.

In the fall i got hold on a tilt bucket and a ripper tooth for a good price. The only problem was, i didn't had extra hydraulics on the dipper arm

My Hymac had an extra boost function on the dipper arm, allowing me to control the dipper with two controls. Very good if you want to move the dipper while tracking or speed up the digging.
I didn't want to lose that function. If i in the cab could switch between the dipper boost and the tilt bucket that function would not be lost.



So in went to the hydraulic dealer an purchased an electric 6/2 valve, pipes and tubes. And this is the result:





After i covered everything with new paint, dont have pictures of that




The result was very satisfying: My Hymac feels almost modern now

The result can be seen in the video bellow that also is showing the restoration of the tilt bucket that was leaking significantly on the first test.

The next thing i have i plan for my excavator before spring is to replace the very worn lover bushings on the rams lifting the boom. But the weather does everything to ruin my plans

Still looks rather cold in your part of the world Andy lets hope the white stuff quickly disappears; I have not been up to my machines since the working event but I'm hoping to get up there on one of the coming Saturday mornings all being well.

Had a day of yesterday and spent some time on my Hymac. I decided to remove the worn bom cylinder bushings. With the "small" puller they reluctantly came out



The brass bushes should be 50.8 mm inward (2 inches) and about 61 mm outside.
Called Pettersson's in Gävle and the bushings they have on the shelf have the same inner diameter but larger outer diameter. The outer dimension of the bushings they have is 2.5 inches about 63.5 mm.
Both he and I thought this was very strange, this bushing has been their bestseller in all the years as he said and there is no one else to get. Still, it doesn't seem to fit my machine. Can they have made a repair on the cylinder's ear and therefore had to use smaller outer diameter on the bushings?
Anyway, I ordered 4 new bushings. The inside diameter was right, maybe they can be turning down?

Andy; firstly yes they can be turned down to fit just make sure you get a nice interference fit; when I get up to my machine I will measure the bushes on it and on the newly reconditioned rams that I intend to fit, the problem that I have is that the part where the pins fit into the actual frame looks badly worn, it could do with building up with weld then line-boring, somehow that is just not going to happen.

Why your bushes are a different size is a mystery but Hymac did change parts as and when they liked so perhaps you have an 'odd man' out machine? Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for your input Jeremy. Yes yes i have understood that they changed part from time to time. I think i will try to get someone to turn them down for me. As you said the tolerance is important. I want them to fit tight
