Finally the winter is over, the beautiful spring is here, i love it
As i said before i wanted to rebuild the sliding door and make it to the more modern model with hinges instead. With the new controls it would also give some valuable extra space in the cab.

During the winter i have had some problem with the starter. Sometimes when i turn the key nothings happened, just a click from the starter. I suspected a worn solenoid. Later it got so bad that i didnt make the machine start at all. So i ordered a rebuild starter from England, it was not cheap but only the best for my Hymac
With the new starter in place it stats up instantly every time


Now when the machine should be in good working order i had a friend to test the new controls. He is more used to operate diggers and me, and he said it was very easy to operate considering its age.

I also have a question for Jeremy. In the manual i can read that you have to change or fill oil in the injection pump. Do you know where to fill?

Hi Andy nice to see the progress with your machine I must confess that I don't know where the oil goes in the injection pump I would imagine that there is a plug on the bottom half of the pump where the cam is? I think that Fred Evans would be the man to ask in this instance; Fred?

This might help although a 4 cylinder. Some of the engines I have seen lubricate from the timing chest others from oil within the pump.
Have you fitted servo controls to the old machine?

Had a quick look back and I see you are using a cable system a little like some farm loaders and hedge trimmers. Looks good, were the levers and cable expensive?

Yes i fitted cable control. I would estimate the cost for the whole rebuild to around 335£
After this rebuild the machine is almost as easy to operate as a servo controlled machine.

Andy she looks fine and works well once I have the Poclain 75CKB back up and running then I will be able to get back on with my 580BT
