Hymac Lever Question

I can remember being around Hymac machines as a kid. I always assumed they were the 580C, but when I look at old pictures of the 580C the levers are always on the floor at the front of the cab. I'm sure the machines I remember had the excavator control levers at the side of the seat. These were definitley pre 580D machines as the 580D was a far more modern machine in it's looks and in the cab with a better interior and gaters around the levers.
Did later versions of the 580C have the levers at the side of the seat or am I thinking of a different model of Hymac. Maybe I'm just remembering it wrong and they were 580Cs with the levers at the front I also seem to remember the button for the horn being on the side of the cab I think

There were some 580CT's which were made primarily for the Scandinavian market, having said that some did find there way onto UK sites.

The levers at each side of the seat were for tracks,Hymacs were very basic,but I thought they were great
I may have said it before, an auto electrician was brought in to do a complete rewire of a 580.He started the machine,thought the dipper pedal was the throttle,depressed it,the dipper came in and pushed the boom through the workshop roof,above us was the bosses office.He had a bit of a mound in his floor after that.

HYMAC 580CT RARE!

All 580C machines had two control levers which were on the cab floor, the left lever raised the boom when pulled back and lowered it when pushed forward, moving the lever to the left or right operated the bucket or grab.
The righthand lever push forward to slew left, pull back to slew right, left or right was the auxiliary function which could be on either boom or dipper, and the dipper was controlled by the foot pedals the left to bring the dipper in and the right to extend the dipper.
The tracks were controlled by levers at either side of the drivers seat.
Now 580CT machines were different because the 580CT was basically a 580C with an 890 cab fitted!!
Older 580 and 580B machines used to have a double jointed lefthand lever and a third lever next to the righthand lever this was the aux control on these machines.

The 580D has stubby levers mounted at arm rest position. They have a simple but clever joint that allows 2 service selection (tho' slow!). The lever operation is the same as the more modern excavators. The tracking levers are behind the digger levers. The pedal adds a boost to the dipper in both directions. The pump is an old fashioned triple gear type that supplys 2 banks of spool valves. It was set up so that you can operate tracking, slew and dipper pedal at the same time.
Our old one has the remnants of a horrn button on right hand cab pillar. We use ours to shift a muck pile and load a spreader. Has a diesel problem at the moment, drops its prime when stood up. Also the old 6.354 will not start when hot unless I chuck a drop of water over the injector pump

The picture of the pedals on the floor come from the 580CT showing typical booster pedal and what I remember to be an annoying Slew brake - who needs a slew brake????
