Possible Site Visit

Post #1 by Ian Fletcher1970 » Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:12 pm

Having been to Andrew Beaulah's open day today myself and Mr Rowland discussed about wanting to visit Lodge House Opencast site in Smalley - Derbyshire. I know Joes1989 and LKezz have paid several visits photographing from footpaths. I have had the thought that if enough CMN members would be interested then it may be worth me contacting UK Coal and seeing if we could organise an official CMN visit to the site. So as a starter for ten can any members who may be interested let me know before I try and start the ball rolling with UK Coal. I am guessing it would be a weekday or possibly a Saturday morning but we can develop it further when I know of how much interest.

Thanks - Ian

Yes I discussed this with Ian and thought it would be nice to get up there and see some of the kit there close up; Ian great idea to ask other CMN members it would be nice to make a day of it and get to meet up with other site members and see the more familiar CMN members again.

I'm in!!! Any day will suit me, just let me know of the day so I can book of work! They have stopped me from going down now too! They have put up a blockade on the path I take and told me I couldn't be where I usually stand because I'm within the site boundaries! Been standing there for months and it's took them until now to tell me :???: I've never done a site visit so it will be great to get close to all the machines while they are working!!
Cheers

The site manager at Lodge House, Brian Worsley, is a great bloke! He is very accommodating whenever I have visited and is very well helpful whenever I have spoken to him.
